2019 Partida Creus BB
The only Partida Creus cuvee where the fruit does not come from the region of Penedes. Massimo and Anto harvest 3 parcels of pie franco (ungrafted, pre-phylloxera) Bobal vines located in the mountains south of Cuenca, in the Valencia region. The soils are limestone and clay with a river running along the side of the vineyard. Each year they drive south for two days, harvesting the Bobal and returning in the cool of the morning to Bonastre to process the fruit.
Most of the bobal for this cuvee was elevaged in tank with a portion elevaged in old barrels. The two components were blended prior to bottling.
A bright and fresh expression of Bobal, lifted red fruits, purple hues and wild thyme. There is freedom and fluidity to the palate, crunch and acidity, all perfectly balanced. Lithe and fine, almost non existent tannins, sun struck plums and notes of rocket. Simply put, a bloody delicious wine.
