2020 Joshua Cooper Dougs Vineyard Pinot Noir
Josh Cooper, son of Nelly and Allan Cooper of Cobaw Ridge Winery, is cutting his own path with the his wines using grapes grown outside of the family Vineyards.
Doug’s Vineyard is situated on the outskirts of the township of Romsey, in the Macedon Ranges. Planted about 20 years ago. The wine is carefully sorted into open fermenters and then sits for a year in various oak barrels on lees, followed by four months in stainless steel before racking and bottling.
Dark garnet. As usual for Doug's Vineyard this vintage is intensley aromatic, full of wilted rose petal, sour red cherry, porcini and clean turned earth, with a seasoning of exotic spice. The small crop lends intense concentration, yet compared to the last two vintages it is much more weightless and acid driven, finishing with a trail of fine powdery tannin and exceptional balance.
