2023 MDI Ansonica Skin Contact
Have you ever tried this grape called Ansonica? It's bloody awesome. Also sometimes called Inzolia, it's originally from Southern Italy, and notably Sicily. It's grows well in dry conditions, and although not a lot is grown in Australia - it does suit a lot of our wine growing climates.
With some time on skins, this wine smells of mandarin zest, orange blossom all citrussy and fresh but has a fleshy, skinsy - almost tannic and slightly buttery texture. As with a lot of Italian varietals it's got the slightest salty/savoury edge. A real favourite of Kev's.
