2022 Babche Wines Sangiovese

Sangiovese! A grape famous under a Tuscan sun grows most sweetly also under the Australian. A grape for now and the future, and grown so excellently in so many places here. This wine is complex, which first begins with lavender and wild raspberries on the nose followed by deep black cherries on the palate, with bright acidity and a savoury, almost balsamic depth. The tannins have a slight grip which means it is excellent with food. 

These grapes come from a single vineyard in Shays Flat, Pyrenees. Niki and I tasted for the first time a month or so ago, and it's clear to see that Niki and Tim have an extreme talent for winemaking. 

Niki spent a lot of her youth in rural Macedonia with her grandparents who also made wine. Babche is a fond nickname for Grandma thus the nonna-centric labels. All of their wines are organic or biodynamic. No Sulphur is added.
