2022 Commune of Buttons 'Basketolo' Nebbiolo
We happen to be VERY picky about Nebbiolo at Ok. Wines. We love it. We have spent a lot of time adoring it - and have drunk our fair share.
This is a very impressive expression of the grape. Nebbiolo is known for HIGH acid and HIGH tannin. The thing about it - is they've kept the beautiful acid, the tannin is there but it's only a touch toothsome and not overly firm. It's still expressive, delicate and has all of those flavours we chase. Slightly sappy, with fresh crushed rose petals and temperate rainforest floor all wrapped up in some just ripe strawberry and a lick of spice and the most gentle whispers of anise.
If you're a little afraid of Nebbiolo, this is the place to start. And with some lovely rich food, you'll see where this grape comes into the workhorse category. We've eaten steak as big as our heads and honestly - the acid and tannin in Nebbiolo is what leaves you with a happy tummy afterwards.
