2022 Maison Gautheron d'Anost Haute Côtes de Beaune Chardonnay
This is a wine of purity and elegance, with notes of sugar snap pea, green melon and just the slightest whisper of ginger. The acidity is lovely and fresh - almost juicy, and a slight creaminess just to soften those edges of acid a touch. It's an incredible wine, we think it's worth the treat.
Maison Gautheron d'Anost was founded by Bastien Gautheron in 2020. Based in Meursault, Bastien has worked previously for Burgundian greats such as Olivier Leflaive. The Haute Côtes de Beaune comes from 50% of his own, organic fruit and the other half from like-minded producers that farm either organicially or very similar to that.
The quality of the fruit, purity and freshness of these wines are evident - Bastien is clearly a rising star in Burgundy. Whilst these wines are quite affordable (for Burgundy) now, we suspect they might soar in the years to come. This wine can definitely be drunk now - or lay down for a few years.
